Hrvoje Krizic

Hrvoje has been studying physics at ETH Zurich since September 2020. Prior to that, he attended the Kantonsschule Schaffhausen, where he specialized in mathematics and physics. During this time, he won 2nd place in an international mathematics competition in Konstanz in March 2019.
Since 2021, he has been a teaching assistant, leading weekly tutorials for Mathematics I and II (with over 120 students each), supporting the D-MATH and D-PHYS departments in computer science courses, and providing exam preparation courses for Mathematics I, II, and III. Additionally, since 2023, he has been delivering lectures during the preparatory course week for up to 400 incoming mathematics and physics students. Hrvoje is the author of the textbook "Tutorium Mathematik für Naturwissenschaften", which will be published by Springer Verlag in September 2024.
During his bachelor's studies, Hrvoje conducted a muon spin rotation study on Type-I superconductivity (Pb) at the PSI laboratory and gave a seminar talk on string interactions and Riemann surfaces, specifically the Schwarz–Christoffel mapping, as part of a proseminar on string theory. Together with Simon Zehnder, he won third place in a machine learning competition on soccer analytics organized by KNIME. In the spring of 2024, he worked on a semester project investigating the Moon’s response to gravitational waves under the supervision of Prof. P. Jetzer at the University of Zurich.
Currently, Hrvoje is working on his master’s thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alexandre Refregier and Dr. Michele Bianco. His research focuses on applying normalizing flow models to predict density distributions within ionized bubbles in the early universe, utilizing data derived from simulations of reionization processes.
